About me

My name is László Diczkó. I am engineer of manufacturing technology. I have been raising chili since 2011 as a part time farmer. It is my main job since 2013 in my enterprise. We process our chilli and distribute it as sauce and powder. We live from our garden, it serves everything for us. In 2015 I entered an international chilli sauce competition as the first Hungarian chilli farmer and won the first prize in our category with the sauce called Spirit of Attila. It gave me enough motivation to be brave entering several other competitions We won the Masterpiece Of Hungarian Craft title. In 2017 we won two first and two second prices and an off category prize as well. That time I did not want to believe that it could be real. The whole thing is not the right way leading anywhere else but confusing our mind hence I stay away from competitions since then. My granny (mother of my mom) dealt with plants and I spent my time with her day long. When chilli found me as an adult I thought I knew everything. I jumped on into this business with the confidence of greenheads. I quickly realised that in reality I don’t know anything at all. That was the point where I started digging deep into agriculture related science. I was not satisfied with only solving problems, I always wanted to go further, understanding cause and effect and all the details behind the phenomena. Later I was interested only in the relations among the different pieces of the great puzzle of the world of plants. The biggest lesson for me was to realise that there is no such an easy answer and simple question in botany. If we do not take this in account, we will make big mistakes. By now students refer to my works and calculating methods in their dissertations, which is a honourable feeling and heart touching as well for me. I have a lot of ideas and plans, but agriculture is a slow system. If one makes a mistake, the new solution needs another year to have a chance to be tried. I do not say I am a specialist, in fact I am not like that. I often listen to real specialists’ presentations with great respect. There is a lot to learn from many of them and for me learning is a kind of never ending story. I got my nickname from League of Fire after they visited my farm and we talked about plants. I know it’s not real, but I love it!
